What is the "Total Fee through Alabama.gov"?

Problem

I'm on the payment page of the application and see a line item that says "Total Fee through Alabama.gov." What is that?

Solution

Many electronic government services include a portal administration fee that allows alabama.gov to deliver the service being used and other important services without tax funding. The portal administration fee is paid to a third party that provides these services for alabama.gov and thus is not considered revenue for the State of Alabama.

Note

If the customer does not wish to pay the portal administration fee, he has the choice to conduct his transaction by traditional non-electronic means. The electronic government services provided by alabama.gov are considered voluntary.
